The purpose of this page is to provide basic information about the Supervised Agricultural Experience program to students and parents. The Supervised Agricultural Experience Program, normally referred to as the SAE, provides an opportunity for the Agricultural Science and Technology student to extend his/her learning beyond the classroom setting. Students have the opportunity through their own customized SAE to place into practice the knowledge and skills acquired from classroom and laboratory instruction. It also provides a means for students to apply and further develop knowledge and skills in situations closely related to those used in industry. Students are applying basic skills relevant to agriscience and agribusiness. It integrates reading, writing, mathematics, science, technology, physical education, social studies, economics, decision-making procedures and other areas of academic knowledge.
The Supervised Agricultural Experience Program is required under the guidelines of the State Board of Education for all students enrolled in Agricultural Science and Technology courses in Texas public schools, (with the exception of those enrolled only in Introduction to World Agriculture). The information contained in this publication provides for meeting state minimum requirements for all Mansfield ISD Agriscience students and provides information concerning the SAE and our accelerated block schedule.
Each Agricultural Science and Technology student is required to keep records relevant to his/her SAE. In addition to classroom instruction, there are SAE Record Book Check Sheets and SAE Record Keeping Examples available to provide information on keeping accurate and complete SAE records.
