The Texas FFA Association announced results from the National Chapter Rating award program, which shows the Mansfield FFA Chapter ranked as the number two chapter in the entire state! The results were part of the Texas FFA Advanced Awards, Degree and Scholarship Check which took place June 6-8 at Tarleton State University in Stephenville.
The National Chapter Rating is the top award program for chapters. It recognizes the best FFA chapters in the nation, based on information submitted on the three-part, 26 page application. FFA chapters are evaluated on 15 key areas which cover all three major areas of the chapter’s Program of Activities. The National Chapter Award program is designed to award those FFA chapters that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization. These chapters improve chapter operations using a program of activities that emphasizes student development, chapter development and community development. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership.

The Mansfield FFA was also named as a state finalist in the Golden Horizons Award program. This state level program evaluates chapters as being “well-rounded” and participating in a variety of quality events and activities throughout the year.
The chapter was honored, along with other winning chapters at the 79th Texas FFA Convention in Corpus Christi. The chapter’s National Chapter Award application will now be forwarded to the National FFA Center, where it will be evaluated for a possible National level award, which would be presented at the National FFA Convention next fall in Indianapolis. The state rankings are unofficial and all chapters who qualify for a national award will be submitted together as unranked. The chapter earned FFA’s highest chapter rating in 2006, the National Three-Star Chapter Award.
With this excellent result our chapter should be in strong contention for another Three-Star award. The chapter has earned that rating six of the past ten years and has earned a national level chapter award of some type for 27 consecutive years.
