Agricultural Science & Technology

PESONAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT—A great new leadership course for students in grades 10-12! It includes topics in personal development, employee/employer relations, and group and individual interpersonal communication skills. All done in a fun, hands-on style that is sure to make you a better leader. In addition, PSD students will be participating in the popular PALS program, sponsored through the National FFA. This could include the chance to serve as a mentor to a younger student who needs your help and support.
AGRIBUSINESS MANAGEMENT AND MARKETING - A course for those who are serious about becoming agribusiness professionals! If you have dreams of working in marketing, management, business, law or education in the agricultural industry this course is perfect for you! Plans are underway to link this course with the Marketing of Agricultural Products course at Hill College. This would enable MISD students to earn dual-credit for these courses and would be fully transferable to Tarleton State, Texas Tech and other four year universities.
VETERINARY MEDICAL ASSISTANT (VET TECH II) - A work-based learning course designed for senior students who have successfully completed Veterinary Assistant Technology (Vet Tech I). Those accepted for this limited
enrollment program will be working with local veterinarians through clinical rotation and/or internships. (Must be a senior, completed Vet Tech I with a grade of 85 or above, application required, must supply your own transportation)
Less Prerequisites - Most Agri-Science courses no longer have prerequisites you have to meet. Only the more advanced, upper level courses have such requirements. There are still two courses that ninth grade students can take - the expanded Introduction to World Agriculture and the always popular Wildlife and Recreation Management
Is there something special you have wanted to research and study? - An INDEPENDENT STUDY IN AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE maybe the perfect choice for you!
And don’t forget—AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY students have the opportunity to advance their leadership skills, employability skills, have fun, travel, compete and make lots of new and special friends by being members of the FFA.
